The mayor of your city is planning to take steps in order to attract more tourists to the area.He wants citizens to suggest how this can be achieved.

Write an email to the mayor expressing your own ideas about the steps that need to be taken. Give reasons to support your opinion.

Dear Mayor Jones,

 

I am a citizen and I am writing regarding your plan to increase tourism in our city.I am in favour of this idea and I would like to put forward/make some suggestions on how to achieve this.

 

In the first place, I suggest/propose that you offer discounts to all kids who visit our city.For example, all foreign children who come to Thessaloniki or Halkidiki for the summer should pay less when they visit the sights with their parents or when they stay at hotels with their family.This will give an incentive for families who are looking for a nice place to spend their summer holidays.

 

Another useful idea would be to improve the facilities at hotels in our city.To be more specific, you could ask all the hotels to have an Olympic-size swimming pool or create an area for the kids to play in.When tourists spend their time by the pool, they buy drinks and food which is very expensive.

 

To sum up, thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts.I hope you find my proposals useful.
